In honour of Keith & Kristyn Getty, who are visiting from the USA, and inspired by his own recent trip to the States, Noel has chosen a new programme of music with a distinctly transatlantic feel for 2008 Prom Praise. Bernstein’s West Side Story, Aaron Copeland’s Hoe Down, Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance, Hubert Parry’s I Was Glad.

Featured soprano Margaret Ferguson will include pieces from Carmen Jones and Child In Our Time, whilst Keith & Kristyn will bring their own set of songs including In Christ Alone, There is a higher throne, and Love of God.

ENGLISH L’ABRI - 2008 Film Festival

Venue: Greatham Village Hall & The Manor House, Greatham

Twenty-four Frames per Second 2008 is a weekend of film, lectures and discussion presented by English L’Abri. Dutch film-maker Jaap van Heusden will be the festival’s special guest. Jaap is both a script writer and director and he will be showing his latest film, which has been screened on national TV in Holland.

He will also discuss and answer questions on the process of making this film and lead a film maker’s view of Wim Wender’s Paris Texas.

Do book early, as places go quickly.

Entry to films, lectures and discussions is free, but you need to register and pay if you want meals and accommodation. Registration forms are available from the ACG office.

3.15pm PARIS TEXAS (1984, Dir. Wim Wenders, cert 15) Film analysis from filmmaker’s viewpoint (Village Hall),

11pm OCTPOB (The Island) (2006, Dir. Pavel Lungin, cert 12) Late film at the Manor House

CONTEMPORARY INDIAN ART - A two day conference

Venue: Wolfsberg Conference Centre, Ermatingen, Switzerland

UBS Arts Forum is staging a two day conference at Wolfsberg in Switzerland. Details are still being finalised, but if you are interested in attending then please contact ACG member Professor Prabhu Guptara, Prabhu.guptara@ubs.com. The event is being organised by one of Prabhu’s colleagues, but he writes that the best way for ACG members to get an invitation is via him.
